Our Clinical Philosophy

Why Our Approach Is Different

At MDO Psychotherapy Group, meaningful psychotherapy is not rushed, generic, or reactive. We take time to understand the full picture before developing a treatment plan.

The Foundation

Thoughtful assessment, strong formulation, and careful therapist matching create more focused treatment over time.

Structured, Intentional Care

A clearer process before ongoing therapy begins

This structured process allows us to move beyond surface-level symptom discussions and develop a more individualized understanding of the person as a whole.

1

Initial Consultation

Our process begins with a low-barrier Initial Consultation ($55), designed to help determine whether our practice and approach are an appropriate fit for your needs and goals.

2

Clinical Interview

Clients then participate in a more in-depth Clinical Interview with either Malini Ondrovcik ($225) or an Associate Therapist ($125-$150 depending on clinician).

3

Assessment Appointment

This is followed by a dedicated Assessment Appointment at the same rate. During this process, clients complete three carefully selected clinical assessments intended to provide additional clarity regarding presenting concerns, emotional functioning, behavioural patterns, symptom presentation, and treatment considerations.

Why We Do Not Rush Into Therapy

Clinical rigor before treatment direction

Many clients come to us after therapy that felt unstructured, inconsistent, or unclear in direction. Supportive conversations can be valuable, but psychotherapy is most effective when grounded in thoughtful case formulation and intentional treatment planning.

What is happening?
Why may it be happening?
What maintains it?
What strengths and protective factors exist?
Which therapeutic approaches are most likely to be effective?

A Boutique Clinical Model

Private-pay care by design

MDO Psychotherapy operates as a private-pay practice so therapists can work thoughtfully, prepare thoroughly, collaborate clinically, and engage in meaningful formulation and treatment planning rather than operating within a high-volume framework.
